I am pleased to inform you all that the root cause to the intermittent outages that were experienced on some of the VSocial installations has been found and resolved.
The root cause turned out to be a faulty Load Balancer that distributes traffic from VSocial users to a number of front-end application servers. Load Balancers are employed to distribute load to allow for scaling in the case of increased load, and to mitigate server outages. In this case, it was the load balancer that was faulty.
Our engineering team replaced the faulty load balancer late this afternoon (6 March) and access appears to have been fully restored.
Not all VSocial installations were affected, although approximately half were.
We thank you for your patience and understanding.
